Hate to break it to you, but Memphis was the school that wanted to cancel the basketball series. . .UT said fine, but don't expect to play us in Football. . .Memphis quickly changed their mind.

We're still 0-2 going into Maui, and we got out played in the 2nd overtime. . .and Memphis is not a top 10 team. Enjoy what success we have with Pearl's guys, if Martin doesn't step up his recruiting this is as good as it'll get.

And just who is"we"? It obviously doesn't include you, buster.

"We're" ; "we" ; "we"

Man, don't pretend you are a fan with those dumb comments.

No suprise here ..Maymon is the strongest UT physical speciman since Howard Bayne..Martin is impressing a lot of knowledgeable basketball experts..those expressing concerns about recruiting excluded..who wouldn't want to play for this man..oh yea there is those who play for pay (under the table) that we won't get..but we got a coach who can coach up what he does get..

I believe we have upgraded in coaching ability! GBO!!!

I'm hoping he's also a great recruiter. Looks like he can coach, but getting talent to compete with KY, FL, & Vandy he has to get his share of blue chip players!

Flabbergasted writes:

Skylar's turnovers led to five points for the Tigers. Tatum forced the ball inside and it was stolen on one of the last plays of the game that led to the Tiger's last points. Tatum also forced a bad shot near the end. McCrae is prone to turnovers and takes terrible shots. So it is completely unfair to put the loss all on Trae. Despite all that, we are going to be a lot better than some think. Maymon is a beast!! Unbelievable how well we are shooting free throws. That will lead to some wins. I like CM's offense a lot better than Pearl's. Go Vols!!!

KITTYDAN - We have played and beat Memphis three times since that terrible day in 1996 - 2000, 2006, and 2010. 1996 never would have happended had instant replay been in effect. To suggest that we avoided Deangelo Williams is ludicrous. You play the UABs, Cincy's, and UTM's of the world in football every week....and still suck! Enjoy your 91-68 against the SEC. Your record against the Vols is 9-14 after today. We have a coach...you have a babysitter who rolls out the balls. By the way, my record book says that 38 win season by Tiger High never existed (see Derek Rose ACT issue)

Living in STL area, I have been following him for years. His MO State team certainly gave Vols fits last year.

WestKnox, as I said yeterday, this is first season.

You must have no self confidence because your thinking is so negative.

The VOLS are playing incredible basketball - what a great effort the past two days. could have just as easily won both games against Duke and Memphis. Awesome effort Coach Martin and team! Maymon is an incredible player and the team will only get better over the next few weeks following competitive play in Maui. Proud of the court and gridiron Vols! as for Bodean Vol and others like westknowrepub - wow, you guys really need to get a life! The Vols are a great team- deal.

Recruiting will improve. After all, he started recruiting from a bad situation- Pearl's departure an ongoing NCAA investigation, and coming in as an "unproven" coach. Recruits will begin to pay attention as the season goes along.

Trae Golden has got to play better. He continuously put Tennessee in bad positions offensively and defensively his effort was lacking at times. He is Tennessee's only true ball handler really so there are no other options but he made terrible selfish decisions shooting the ball and went 3-19 from the field. It all starts with the point guard the way in football it starts with the quarterback (Vol fans we really can relate to this)

It was an Adidas promotion. Adidas is one of the sponsers of the Maui Invitational. I think Michigan wore the same shoes.

Mempuss lost by 12 but that game was over long before they got within 12.It was 18 or 19 for awhile.by the way since your throwing up tn vs michigan from a year ago,how bad did tn route mempuss last year ???it was 20 but was up to 28 until the subs came in.you idiot

Thats when we had 20 seconds and Goins would get the ball and beat into the ground until their was no time left.

Tough loss. Maymon hustles hard and is very quick on his feet. I would think 20 rebounds has to be close to a record. He had 9 off rbbs and Memphis' team had 4. That is incredible for anyone, much less a 6-7 guy. He fakes well with the ball and draws a lot of fouls and delivers...16-17 from the stripe. He does need to work on that crawdaddy jumper. Every time I've seen him take that shot, it's fallen short. When he uses the board inside, he scores....when he throws up those crawdaddys...who knows. Anxious to see haw Golden and Mcrae develop this season. Interestingly, we were out rebounded by Carson-Newman and yet, out rebounded both Duke and Memphis.
