But stars don't matter, even though ua has had three of the last four #1 recruiting classes according to one recruiting service, and they beat us by 30 year in and year out, and oh yeah, 3 of teh last 4 NCs. New staff? But au pulled a top 10 today, why are we so far back?

Stars don't matter my arse. More years of just hoping to beat the commodes and ukittens, and getting rolled by every ranked team we play, with a potential upset on rare occasions.

Top 247 says it is, but just like everything else associated with the recruiting class of 2013, we will know for sure in 2018 when they've completed their eligibility. On the surface it appears we did not keep up with the SEC, but who knows? On a more serious note I sure am disappointed to see Bell choose OS him being a Vol fan and all. Ive seen a line or two saying Dooley might have helped with that kid if he had only recruited him while he was here, of course this might just be the excuse his father is giving but who knows.

At any rate I think CBJ has done a great job recovering this class from what could have been a disaster and these negavols and teamless trolls
would be whining regardless of the outcome. I kinda like getting the blue collar type players much more than the superstars anyway. Many of those 5 star recruits thats make the news end up a bust from self worship and never do much in college.

CBJ IMO was probably the best coach left in our reach alongside Strong. Next...you can thank Dooley & Co. for not getting Bell. You don't recruit athletes for 2 months people you start when they're Fr and So and high school and build relationships. That's were Dooley failed this class because over a year ago Tennessee was where Levenberry and Bell wanted to go...and then Dooley dropped the ball on ALL of them. I don't care how good your staff is you can't expect someone to win someone over in a couple of months after others have been with them for a year plus. Considering all circumstances this is a respectable class. Of course it needed Bell and Ford but just bc its UT doesn't mean we can control everything! Be happy we got North and flipped Dobbs! I'd rather have this class than Kiffin's class of flops he got us. Everyone was so tickled for what he did but it was built on lies, that's the only way to get people that fast.

Rossville is okay. UT Athletics is no longer okay.

This class is mediocre at best.

The powers that be hired a coach who is a little better than average---from a conference where grades are not the issue they will be at UT, which plays in a conference that chews up GOOD coaches, and snickers at better than average, usually before shoving them out of the league.

And he blew smoke day #1 about the Best Coaching Staff in the USA, then hired his staff from Cincinnati; told everybody he could win the SEC with recruits from Tennessee (he missed a hexx of alot of the better ones, looking at who signed.) Phillip Fulmer corrected that in public, saying UT MUST recruit nationally. Fulmer probably thought Jones had enough sense to recruit 4/5Star players nationally, not 2 stars, as Jones and staff have.

The ONLY top tier get since Jones has been coach has been by a Tennessee alum, who almost was not retained from Dooley's staff. Notice also that several of the better players---ranking a hexx of a lot higher than the 2/3 stars we got from Jones---went to the schools where the better coaches from Dooley's staff went.

In short...this class is a disappointment. And Hart is to blame for hiring a guy who has not proved he can handle the freight in the SEC.

Telling ourselves this is the building block for a return to the top of the Conference is horse manure. Telling ourselves the truth and then fixing what the truth tells us in return is the solution to our problems---

instead of as Hart did, when he screwed up the hiring process totally, and then blew smoke about how well he had hired a Head Coach. Hart's b.s.ing got us this mess, as the successor to Dooley's mess, as the successor to Kiffen's mess, as the successor to Hamilton/Cheek/Pres.ofTheWeek's screw up of firing Fulmer.

We have a problem, folks. We are paying a guaranteed $18MILLION DOLLARS for thie garbage, from an Athletics Department on the ropes financially, from the payouts of Hamilton's guarantees---including his own severance.

Today is not a good day for UT. We could not even improve the Coaching staff, because the deparment cannot afford to upgrade the staff.

Never been like this among UT Vols before...ever. Jones says Peyton Manning is going to do something special. I hope he is going to replace Jones as Head coach, for the consultant's customary $1dollar per year.

That would be a big step in the right direction.

First, thanks and welcome to the 21 new Volunteers. Take pride in wearing the orange. Second, thanks to the staff for working the many long hours since they were hired. Finally, this day reminds us that winning next fall (at least 8 games) is critical to our recruting. It is a year where we must step up and get it done. If not, I am not sure next February will be much better. Recruiting is about relationships and credibility. CBJ and his staff have started working on the relationship side but the elite propects need to know we are viable on the field. Tenth or eleventh in the SEC can be overcome for one year but will kill us long term.

As for CBJ and his staff, I think the only grade you can give them so far is an incomplete. This class is not as strong as we would have liked but hopefully they have laid some good groundwork for next year. Now, CBJ and the staff can show us how good they are at "coaching them up" and game planning. It will be an interesting fall, hopefully one with at least 8 wins.

Interesting, if you are going to spew stuff, you should at least get your facts straight. There is only 1 recruit with 2 stars and that is the JUCO TE that was signed, who was rated one of the top JUCO's available. All the others were 3/4 stars, which is very admirable considering the recent past.

CBJ has only been with the program 2 short months and landed a #21 class which is much higher than the talking heads predicted. Yes it was only 10th in the SEC, but it was #21 out of 124.

There are still 6 spots left and other 3/4 stars out there who are not signing today. Which if just one of those is filled, we will move up 2-3 spots.

But since you are an expert on coaching, college leadership and funding, you must be bitter since you did not get the AD job.

Just sayin.....

Go Vols!!!
