If we can slow down Ingram, we have a great chance of winning. I know that's easier said than done. BUT we have done pretty well against the run so far this season.
Plus, I'd really love for us to shock the world, and ruin Bama's national championship hopes.
Please...I hate Bama as much as the next Vol fan, but Willie Martinez isn't calling the defensive signals for Bama...they will smoke us. And twist numbers anyway you want...152 wins is more than 8...
Just as CLK used the Gerogia game to jump start his recruiting in Atlnata GA, Nick Saban has circled this game..he is also looking at beating UT worse then Auburn..but that is why they play the game. I am not confident Crompton will play well against Bama, So. Carolina or Ole Miss- Just like McElroy, a good defense coordinator only needs to see a handful of tapes to figure out what is the good tendency and bad tendencies. Put Crompton in the pocket and he becaomes a different QB then the player we saw against GA and WKU, plus he throws 3 picks, let him roll out and he throws better, but has only proven this aganist sub par teams (WKU, Auburn 4th qtr and Georgia)..Sorry Witch Doctor--I am going on back on vacation, i will check in around 7 pm Saturday....
This will be a defensive battle. Control Ingram and make McElroy throw and we have a chance. On the other hand if Crompton tags one of his receivers in the side of the head on a slant pattern we could be in trouble! UT-24 UA-20
Some great posts here, but I think you've got the best post of the bunch, Blood. It's going to be a great game in the true Bama-Tennessee 'Third Saturday in October' tradition. I won't go with a score, but I think Bama wins a close, tough, hard fought one. (As hard hitting as this one is going to be, they may never get the facemasks separated from each other.) Hopefully, both teams will have extra helmets available.
After attending the UGA game, I noticed that Cropmpton has started to find his confidence in throwing the ball. Also, with the way Hardesty and B. Brown run the ball, it could be hard for Bama to stop us. On offense, we must play smart football, but not be afraid to take a couple of chances. On defense, we must stop the run, no questions. That will force Bama to throw the ball and Greg M. hasnt been on a scoring tear lately. And, obviously, our special teams has to show up, or else it will be a long day.
If we execute all of these tasks, I think the score is UT: 27 Bama: 21
If we even struggle just a little bit, Bama will capitalize and make us pay.
It is good to see optimism on this site compared to the week after the Auburn game but a reality check shows: Both defenses are ranked but Alabama is ranked higher and has played against better opponents.
