I believe Hamilton did what he had to do when he fired Fulmer, but I would have liked to see Fulmer have the opportunity to leave with dignity. In my opinion, Hamilton's worst mistake ever was allowing Kiffy to fire Chief and hire Motley. You can call it the 3rd and Chavis if you like; however, the Chief had a good defense year in and year out. I am not even the least bit happy with what I have seen from the team this year. I really do not see any improvement -other than special teams (sans Gordon fumbles) - I do not like the match-ups that Wilcoks' defense creates (i.e. DE's covering speedy backs, LB's covering receivers on deep patterns). I really don't understand Chaney's play calling. It seems that with such a young line and 2 inexperienced QB's, we would be running the ball much more. We are fairly balanced run/pass, but I believe we should be heavier on the run, less motion, and quicker (higher %)passes. It is paramount that the offensive control the clock and allow the defense to rest and Chaney's play calling. In other words, we should be playin "small ball". To the poster earlier that wanted to compare a football program to a corporation and it's coaches to executives. I have though of this many times and never in a positive light. Quite frankly, if Tennessee Athletics were a stock, I would most certainly sell. If a corporation was treading water or worse, they would bring on a CEO with a proven record of "turning the ship around" - not the manager from the local Micky D's. I am not trying to be too critical; however, I do see a correlation. I just do not believe that we have a staff capable of turning around a team in an environment like the SEC. I (literally) pray that I am wrong and I will "eat crow" if necessary. While I am, and always will be, a Volunteer, I am miserable.
