I grew up on the water in and around Knoxville, jumping off bridges and rope swings, skiing, fishing, the whole nine. Even when we were wild idiot kids drinking, etc we would respect a no wake zone, make a wide berth around a fisherman near the shore, etc. It's called "boater respect" and we understood it when we were 16 years old.
