I'm going to agree, and the overall financial situation is the logical result of the unexpected economic collapse taking place at a time when you're spending to make all the improvements. You start to take on debt at a time when the economy is doing pretty well, then it takes a huge turn for the worse. There are many former homeowners in this country who can relate.
