Wow... it is pretty obvious the players were not surprised by this coaching change. They seemed resigned to it with that performance at Vandy. "Business as usual" and "It's just part of the profession" sound cold but those comments reflect the reality of college coaches who don't produce wins. Today Nick Saban said that if he had two losing seasons at Bama he would be fired so no job in the SEC is safe. Gone are the days you had 4 to 5 years to build a program. If you don't show immediate improvement in your first year you know your job is in jeopardy. No progress in the 2nd & 3rd year is a death sentence like it was for Dooley. The next coach for the Vols will come in understanding that he has a short time to revitalize this program. The Vols have some good talent returning, great facilities, a great fan-base and play in the best conference. The foundation is there for the right coach to make the Vols competitive again in the SEC. So now we wait and see if Hart gets this critical choice right. Big Orange Nation is holding its collective breath to see if we will be returning to relevance anytime soon.
