Looks like a very professional staff, with winning experience and topnotch recruiting skills.
Just like many other UT fans, I sort of hoped some of the offensive guys would be able to stay. But I never blame a coach for hiring people he wants, particularly if they contributed to previous success. I'm happy Jay Graham is staying, but sorry Pittman didn't get to . He appears to have landed on his feet, however.
Off what went on at UC, the CBJ offense appears to involve more pulling and trapping than other offenses. Therefore, athleticism more than strength seem like they'll be the emphasis for our offensive line next year. I've looked up some of the Cincy games on WatchESPN, and they seemed to have some very good offensive linemen, so recruiting and coaching worked there, at least. We'll have to see how they adapt to a third OL coach in three years.
But this looks like a great staff to me. As always people can second-guess hiring people let go from other staffs, but unless you're promoting from within or hiring someone with no experience, that's always going to be the case. With these guys as evidence of how CBJ hires, the WR coach should be very good, too.
Thanks Sewanee Vol, great post!
