oh dear lord. the 'ol "how many college games have you coached and won?" garbage. Guess what....I'm no plastic surgeon, but I know a bad boob job when I see one!!!
I don't have to be a college coach to recognize a good recruiting class vs a bad one, and neither do you.
Dude, relationships have been built between these kids and the schools they are considering for well over a year. Jones is tasked to come in and in 30-60 days convince a kid to trust him above the guys who he has know for more then a year. Thats almost impossible to do. Jones is doing a good job of filling needs but your a fool if you think he is going to turn the most sought after players in the country with a couple text and few conversations. Its telling that the highest rated players on our list either had UT at the top already or had relationships with other schools who have had turnover as well.
I like the work Jones appears to be doing for 2014. if Jones is to succeed thats got to be the year for recruiting. I also like that he is smart enough to take advantage of some opportunities with legacies like Wharton and Jenkins. How he ends up nobody knows but so far he is doing the right things and I am more hopeful today then I was at anytime the last three years (except maybe at the beginning of this year when I drank the orange koolaid and ignored what I knew to be true that Dooley was a lousy coach).
