Another good win on the road. Some observations:

Vanderbilt runs its offense around moving picks, which aren't called by the refs. The drives to the basket were all on plays where the Vandy player had a 'blocker'. Ariel played good defense and didn't overguard, but when you encounter a moving pick, there's no way to defend.

While it's always a goal to minimize turnovers, the run and shoot philosophy the Lady Vols now employ is likely going to result in more turnovers than the half court offense, which TN never has run effectively anyway. Hopefully, the coaching staff emphasizes managing the offense, but not at the expense of too much caution and a less effective breakaway game.

Izzy and Bashaara have to learn to protect the ball better when they shoot, and look for the open player when they're double teamed. Izzy really hasn't been playing well since she got all that praise for her improvement.

Coach Holly put Kamiko back into the game late in the first half despite her having 2 fouls. The situation demanded it, and the normally '2 fouls and you're on the bench for the rest of the half' was thankfully abandoned. The situation should dictate the tactic, not hard and fast rules set before the game starts.

Meighan looked great and her new found determination for rebounding is reaping benefits.

Ariel was 6 for 6 from the line. She makes them when they are needed, as have the rest of the team. FT's are not a problem.

The Lady Vols had no defense for the bounce pass into the center. Something needs to change with the defense if they want a chance against ND.

I was impressed with the joy and determination the Lady Vols displayed. They seem to be enjoying the game more than teams of the last several years did.
