I wonder if Jim Haslam would have been able to go to UT today or would he have been denied admission because he didn't fit with Jimmy Cheek's "Top 25" academic goal?
How many other distinguished alumni who have made a difference on a local, regional, national and worldwide stage would not fit into Jimmy Cheek's UT today.
I'm no sure how we in Tennessee who actually fund what is supposed to be a teaching institution benefit by bringing in a bunch of Chinese math wizards and Russian language scholars to raise out academic standing to "Top 25."
