I never pick points and seldom pick winners. I prefer to just say what I think each team needs to do to have their best chance to win. Scores and even outcomes can be so unpredictable. Somebody could always have a career game or a burn-the-tape stinker. I never have any luck with NCAA brackets, for example. I do OK for given games, but I rarely have more than one of my picks make the Final Four.
