College coaching and weather reporting seem to be the jobs of choice where compensation isn't tied to performance - at least for the duration of the contract.
Unfortunately, I've never seen a weather reporter fired for consistently bad forecasts. And, college coaches seem to weather bad seasons for longer than they should because of contracts that are somehow allowed to permit mediocrity for a period of time.
The Dooley experiment sends a message - sign up and no matter what the outcome, you'll get paid. ALOT. Anybody in the real workforce would take that deal every time.
