On topic, it's hard to say that this game is a make-or-break deal for the Vols, but it surely is an important milepost. If this senior class wishes to be honored forever as the group that launched the great Vol turnaround, they have to show up BIG-TIME against the Chickens. If CBJ and staff are to decisively differentiate themselves from their disappointing predecessors, this is their best chance to do so.
Nobody really expects the Vols to beat Bama at their place, even though the Tide may well be less formidable overall than they have been the last few years. Mizzou has turned out to be better than I thought they would be, so beating them at their place will be a MAJOR accomplishment, with or without Franklin. Both Auburn and the Vols are at a roughly similar level right now, teetering on the cusp of moving forward or backing down. Vandy is beatable at Neyland and UK is still the Mildcats.
So this game Saturday is the time when the Vols, players and staff, show what they are made of. If they win--not just play well but WIN--CBJ's stellar incoming class will not only hold firm, they might be joined by a late pleasant surprise or two. Fan support will remain high the rest of the season and most lingering doubts about the direction of the program will at least be held in abeyance and may mostly die out altogether. If they lose, especially if they lose badly, all of the above will go in the other direction. It's THAT important. So, no pressure, guys(;-P)! It's only the immediate future of the program at stake. Show us what you got! GBO!!! GCBJ!!! TCB!!!
