</title><link>http://govolsxtra.com/news/2009/jul/02/top-kicker-palardy-commits-vols/?partner=RSS</link><description>	Michael Palardy, ranked as the top kicking prospect in the nation by Scout.com, has committed to kick for Tennessee.

The 6-foot, 170-pound Palardy from St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., made the announcement during a cookout at his home with family and friends on Thursday evening.

Much of Palardy’s decision was based on his visit to Knoxville for UT’s kicking camp in early June.

“When I went up to Tennessee, it speaks for itself,” said Palardy. “Knoxville is unbelievable. It’s like a home away from home.”

Palardy, a commitment for the 2010 signing class, said he was also impressed with UT coach Lane Kiffin and running backs/special teams coordinator Eddie Gran, who recruits the South Florida area.

</title><link>http://govolsxtra.com/news/2009/jul/01/Knoxvilles-bayne-off-quick-start-nationwide-series/?partner=RSS</link><description>One of the pleasant surprises on the NASCAR Nationwide Series is the performance of Knoxville's Trevor Bayne driving for Michael Waltrip Racing. In three starts, Bayne has two top-15 finishes and an outside front-row start. Not bad for a driver who had not raced on a track bigger than one mile until four weeks ago. Bayne looked to be the future for Dale Earnhardt Inc. when he signed to be a developmental driver and raced in the Camping World East series last year. When DEI merged with Chip Ganassi's operation, DEI's developmental and Nationwide teams folded. That left Bayne without a ride heading into 2009.
