</title><link>http://govolsxtra.com/news/2009/jul/05/catholics-tait-says-injury-behind-him/?partner=RSS</link><description>Patience isn’t a measurement in recruiting. There’s no listing of the virtue next to height, weight and 40-yard dash time.
If there were such a stat, Zak Tait might well lead the country in the patience quotient. The News Sentinel’s ninth best prospect in the state sat out all of last season after suffering a devastating knee injury in 2007. He learned patience while being a patient, overcoming two knee surgeries and countless days laying in front of the television as his knee healed.

His academics are another matter. Those close to the News Sentinel's 10th best prospect in the state began to grow worrisome during Brown's junior season at Manassas High School in Memphis. The concern was that Brown wouldn't be able to qualify academically to play college football.

</title><link>http://govolsxtra.com/news/2009/jul/02/top-kicker-palardy-commits-vols/?partner=RSS</link><description>	Michael Palardy, ranked as the top kicking prospect in the nation by Scout.com, has committed to kick for Tennessee.

The 6-foot, 170-pound Palardy from St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., made the announcement during a cookout at his home with family and friends on Thursday evening.

Much of Palardy’s decision was based on his visit to Knoxville for UT’s kicking camp in early June.

“When I went up to Tennessee, it speaks for itself,” said Palardy. “Knoxville is unbelievable. It’s like a home away from home.”

Palardy, a commitment for the 2010 signing class, said he was also impressed with UT coach Lane Kiffin and running backs/special teams coordinator Eddie Gran, who recruits the South Florida area.

Malcome is Georgia's 12th commitment for the 2010 signing class and the eighth in June. The 6-foot, 213-pounder had scholarship offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma and Tennessee and ultimately picked the Bulldogs over Florida and Oklahoma.

It wasn't University of Tennessee All-American safety Eric Berry, but rather his 13-year-old brother, Evan, who became national news on Monday after Rivals.com reported he had committed to play football for the Vols.

Needless to say, James Berry, a former UT player, was a little surprised.

"I was taken aback," James Berry said Tuesday afternoon. "People were calling me asking me, 'What's this I hear about your son committing to Tennessee? It's on ESPN.' "

</title><link>http://govolsxtra.com/news/2009/jun/22/pahokee-players-have-ut-on-lists/?partner=RSS</link><description>Tennessee lost out on a Pahokee High School prospect on Monday but the news from the Florida school isn't all bad.
Except for receiver De'Joshua Johnson, who committed to Florida State, UT appears to be in good position with the other Pahokee prospects.
UT hosted 11 players from Pahokee at its summer camp last weekend. The Vols have offered scholarships to four of the players, not including Johnson: defensive linemen Richard Ash and Antonio Ford, cornerback Merrill Noel and linebacker Zach Allen.
