He has won regional and national awards over the past 20 years for News Reporting, Feature Writing, Enterprise Reporting, Game Stories and Investigative Reporting.</p> <p>Mike's beats included football and basketball at Idaho State, Auburn and Alabama, and he also covers UT's women's softball team and NASCAR for the News Sentinel. </p> <p>Mike currently votes on the Associated Press Top 25 basketball panel and, as former President of the Football Writers Association of America (2007), he still carries votes for the Heisman Trophy, Doak Walker Award and Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year award.
