Scrimmage report card

Quarterbacks (C)

Forget the stats, there was no support for Erik Ainge and Brent Schaeffer. Both made good plays under pressure. Predictably, both also made mistakes.

Running Backs (D)

Not much work for Gerald Riggs; Cedric Houston's best run of the day was spoiled by a fumble. Jabari Davis was ineffective. Ja'Kouri Williams takes it to the hole hard but has yet to show vision. Scatbacks Corey Larkins and David Yancey were the most productive. Backs had breakdowns in pass protection, Cory Anderson dropped three passes, and Davis and Houston fumbled.

Receivers (F)

Five of the nine dropped passes came from receivers. They appeared to have problems getting open and didn't free themselves when the quarterbacks scrambled. Hard to grade downfield blocking, as backs often didn't make it back to the line before first contact.

Offensive Line (D)

Considerably more pressure than one would anticipate against an experienced unit. Right tackle Albert Toeaina was beaten badly by Parys Haralson. Failed to get a consistent push run blocking. Snaps were a problem.

Defensive Line (A-)

Big performance from sophomore Tony McDaniel. Haralson was dynamic in limited playing time. Tackle Jesse Mahelona got good penetration.

Linebackers (B+)

Strong play against the run and in pass coverage. Made the most of their opportunities and laid some big licks.

Secondary (B)

Very active unit accounted for three fumble recoveries, two interceptions and a forced fumble. Didn't get tested in coverage, as front seven applied good pressure on QBs.
