EA Sports sim: Texas Aggies vs. Oklahoma Sooners

A week after they lost to Baylor for the first time in 18 years, the #22 Texas A&M Aggies held the #2 Oklahoma Sooners close for three and half quarters before falling 35-31 in our EA Sports simulation.

Oklahoma, a week after nearly going to overtime against archrival Oklahoma State, needed a late fourth quarter touchdown run by all-world freshman Adrian Peterson to defeat the Aggies in College Station. Quarterback Jason White, whose three touchdown passes on the day were offset by his four INT's, set up the final score for the Sooners with a 44 yard pass to WR Will Peoples that gave Oklahoma the chance to punch the ball in for the winning TD with 2:24 remaining in the game.

Texas A&M was led by quarterback Reggie McNeal, who threw for 345 yards and 4 TD's against the Oklahoma defense in the game. McNeal, who was under blitz pressure for most of the game, was also able to run for over 75 yards on scrambles throughout the day, but his final drive to attempt to win the game for the Aggies came up short when he was intercepted with 54 seconds remaining.

The two teams traded scores back and forth all day. The Sooners scored first on a 21-yard TD pass from White to Peterson, who lined up out of the slot in an alignment that seemed to confuse the Aggies defense. From there, the teams traded scores, punts and turnovers throughout the rest of the game, with the Aggies returning two White INT's deep into Oklahoma territory to set up McNeal TD passes.

The Aggies, who are now 6-3 on the season after losing two consecutive games, will next take the field when they play Texas Tech on Saturday, November 13th in College Station before they finish up November 26th in Austin against the Texas Longhorns. Oklahoma, who is attempting to maintain their #2 BCS status to set up a showdown with USC in the Orange Bowl at the end of the season, will return home to face longtime rival Nebraska on November 13th before finishing their season November 20th in Waco versus Baylor.
