Douglas might learn fate today
UT lineman could miss remainder of season due to injury of his left foot
While home in Texas last week, Douglas visited a Houston foot specialist who suggested the ligament damage he suffered was worse than originally diagnosed.
UT team doctors will hold a teleconference today with the specialist Douglas saw in Houston before any decisions are made on Douglas' playing status.
"I want to be able to play if there's not risk of significant damage,'' Douglas said. "But I can tell something is wrong.''
UT coach Phillip Fulmer said he didn't think playing on the injured foot against South Carolina or Notre Dame put Douglas at risk.
"I don't think it hurt him any worse,'' he said. "It's painful and sore and it's making him not as productive. He wanted to play against Notre Dame, we wanted him to play against Notre Dame, so we went forward.''
Douglas, the Vols' 340-pound starting right guard, suffered a foot injury late in the fourth quarter of UT's 19-14 win over Georgia on Oct. 9.
Douglas attempted to play against South Carolina on Oct. 30 and Notre Dame on Nov. 6, but his left foot continued to trouble him.
