In addition, defensive back Chris Heath, who has been on a medical scholarship this season, has been permanently dismissed.
In making the announcement, head coach Phillip Fulmer said
Johnsons suspension, called "non-participant status," will be in
effect until an investigation by the athletic department is
completed.
There was no explanation of what caused the disciplinary action, but
Fulmer said the players "did not act in a responsible manner."
"Our players are taught to be responsible and accountable," Fulmer said. "These two young men did not act in a responsible manner and will be held accountable."
Johnson was coming off perhaps his best effort of the season, grabbing two interceptions in a victory over Mississippi on Saturday.
