The Bulldogs, who last week held Vanderbilt to 3 points, were able to keep Arkansas scoreless for three quarters before giving up 10 points in the 4th. Arkansas quarterback Matt Jones, who was originally unable to start the game, played heroically in the 4th quarter after taking over for the ineffective Robert Johnson
The Georgia offense moved the ball seemingly at will against the Razorbacks, with Danny Ware running for 143 yards on 24 carries, while running back Michael Cooper spelled Ware and contributed with 72 rushing yards. David Greene used a short to mid range passing game to set up the Georgia running attack, finishing the day 20-28 for 267 yards and two TD's, with no interceptions.
Georgia's defense was led by All-America candidate defensive end David Pollack, who recorded 9 tackles and two sacks in the game. Free safety Thomas Davis had 8 tackles and one interception for the Bulldogs. The one bright spot for Arkansas' offense was the play of Jones, who was able to lead the Hogs to 10 4th quarter points against the Georgia defense.
Arkansas will next play November 6th when they travel to South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks, while Georgia will head to Jacksonville to take on Florida at the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party on October 30th.
