"We're not going to be able to do the same things (we did) versus UNLV and expect to be successful," Sanders said.
Sanders said much of the success UT had against UNLV was because of the Vols' unique approach to playing young quarterbacks. Sanders said plays were called from the sidelines with the offensive unit at the line.
"UNLV hadn't seen us do that," Sanders said. "It probably caught them by surprise. They probably weren't prepared for what we did. When you catch somebody unprepared you pretty much have your way."
Sanders said the Vols ran the same offense as last year but he had a heavier hand in calling the "freeze", or audible, plays. Sanders said former Vol quarterback Casey Clausen was responsible for pre-snap adjustments last year.
Sanders said he expects a different look from future teams as they prepare for UT's new offensive approach.
"I expect more disguise," Sanders said. "They (Gators) may try to change their looks. That's the game you get into. We're going to have to throw a little more on them. It may not be more but it's going to be different."
- Hobbling Head Coach: Fulmer finally succumbed to using crutches during Thursday's practice. Fulmer has been battling a sore hamstring throughout preseason. He said a stress fracture was detected and joked that he probably should not have run through the "T'' prior to the UNLV game.
- Wow the Crowd: Teammates cheered when sophomore FB Corey Anderson effortlessly pulled in a one-handed catch from freshman QB Erik Ainge. Anderson tucked the ball with one hand and humbly ran down the sideline.
- Injuries: Fulmer said tailback Cedric Houston (ankle) is progressing well and should be able to play against Florida, even if he's not 100 percent. Freshman WR Robert Meachem missed a third day of practice because of a wisdom tooth extraction. Another receiver, Bret Smith, was held out due to turf toe. OT Albert Toeiana's knee will be evaluated Monday. Fulmer hopes both he and Toeiana will be off crutches by then.
