EA Sports simulation: Alabama vs. Arkansas

On a day when many Crimson Tide fans expected the worse, Alabama stormed into Fayetteville and cruised away with a 45 -19 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks in our EA Sports simulation.

Using a strong running game and short passing system for backup quarterback Marc Guillon, the Tide used a 3 yard TD run by Kenneth Darby and a 71 yard punt return by Brandon Brooks to take an early 14-0 on the 'Hogs. Arkansas countered the two quick scores with a 42 yard field goal, but 'Bama marched back down the field and scored on a 4 yard TD run by fullback Tim Castille to take a 21-3 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.

Arkansas again countered with a field goal, but 'Bama added ten unanswered points on a 35 yard field goal and 20 yard TD pass from Guillon to tight end David Cavan to go into the half leading 31-6.

Arkansas came out strong in the second half, using the SEC's top passing offense to score two quick touchdowns, one on a run by quarterback Matt Jones and the second on a Jones to Steven Harris. Arkansas' two point try on their second touchdown failed and the third quarter ended with the Razorbacks trailing 31-19.

With the Hogs making a comeback, 'Bama coach Mike Shula turned to his running game and was able to use his running attack to put the Razorbacks away. 'Bama running back Aaron Johns scored on an 18 yard TD scamper and fullback Tim Castille closed out the scoring when he cashed in on his second TD of the day, a 5 yard run with 4 minutes to go in the game.

Alabama is now 4-0 on the season and will continue their SEC schedule on October 2nd when they host Lou Holtz and his South Carolina Gamecocks. Arkansas will try to regroup but will be faced with the daunting task of playing on the road as they travel to Florida Field to take on the Florida Gators the same day.
