EA Sports simulation: Georgia vs. LSU

The Georgia Bulldogs used the arm of David Greene, the return of freshman Danny Ware and a ferocious defense to defeat LSU 28-10 at Sanford Stadium in our EA Sports simulation.

LSU, who had defeated the Bulldogs twice last year (17-10 in Baton Rouge and 34-13 in the SEC title game) have now lost twice in the SEC this year. The Tigers' tandem quarterbacks of Marcus Randall and JaMarcus Russell were mostly ineffective against the 3rd ranked Bulldogs defense, which forced two fumbles and picked off a Randall pass in the 1st quarter to set up their initial score.

The Georgia offense moved the ball steadily against the LSU defense, with Danny Ware returning from his bruised lung to run for 97 yards on 18 carries, while running back Michael Cooper spelled Ware and contributed with 64 rushing yards. LSU's defense, which had not given up a rushing TD so far this season, was victimized by Ware for two rushing touchdowns on the day. David Greene used a short to mid range passing game to set up the Georgia running attack, finishing the day 21-29 for 231 yards and two TD's, with no interceptions.

Georgia's defense was led by All-America candidate defensive end David Pollack, who recorded 11 tackles and two sacks in the game. Free safety Thomas Davis had 6 tackles and one interception for the Bulldogs, who are now 4-0 headed into their biggest game of the season, as they welcome Tennessee to Athens next Saturday. The one bright spot for LSU's offense was the return of Shyrone Carey from suspension, with Carey running for 62 yards on only 9 carries. The lone LSU touchdown was a 4 yard run by Alley Broussard, who was limited to only 51 yards rushing on 17 carries a week after he rang up a 73 yard, 3 TD performance against Mississippi State last week.

LSU will next take the field on October 9th when they travel to Gainesville to take on the Florida Gators. Georgia returns to Sanford Stadium the same day to face the Tennessee Volunteers, a game whose winner is expected to have the inside track to represent the SEC East in the SEC Championship game in December.
