McDaniel's hearing set for March 7

Tennessee defensive tackle Tony McDaniel, charged with a Class C felony of aggravated assault, waived his arraignment Tuesday.

McDaniel, who is accused of striking a fellow UT student during a pick-up basketball game on Jan. 12, has his preliminary hearing set for March 7 in Knox County General Sessions Court.

McDaniel, represented by attorney Don Bosch, has been suspended indefinitely from the football team.

McDaniel’s playing status won’t be determined until the matter is reviewed by UT judicial affairs. The review will be done independent from the legal proceedings.

The Vols begin spring football practice on March 10.
