He came to UT from Midland High School of Midland, Pa., and started a few games during his sophomore year in 1954, and was the No. 1 wingback in Bowden Wyatt's first year as coach of the Vols. He suffered an ankle injury at the beginning of the 1956 and never regained first-team status from Bill Anderson.
After leaving UT, Mr. Hibbard became president of Avery Lumber Co. of Puryear, Tenn. His son, Nick, was on the UT squad during Johnny Majors' years as coach.
He is survived by sons Mike of Knoxville, Nick of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Robby of Knoxville, former wife, Carol Avery Hibbard and brother Jimmy of Steubenville, Ohio.
The family will receive friends at Highland Memorial Park Funerals and Cremations 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
