Heralded receiver decided against attending UT

Percy Harvin is one of the top prospects in the nation. Tennessee fans need not get too excited.Percy Harvin has ruled out Tennessee.

The Virginian Pilot reported that the Landstown High School football star has narrowed his list to Florida, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, and Southern Cal.

Harvin is rated as one of the top prospects in the country. He was considering UT, along with Virginia and Virginia Tech, before naming his final five. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver said he ran a 4.34 in the 40-yard dash in January.

Harvin also told the Virginian Pilot that he and Landstown teammate Damon McDaniel want to attend the same college. McDaniel is also a highly rated wide receiver.

UT's best tie to Harvin was senior wide receiver C.J. Fayton who is also from Virginia Beach.

"He tells me they have a good campus and a good environment to play in," Harvin told the News Sentinel in April. "He said the fans are crazy down there. I always heard they have one of the craziest places to play in. It stands out a lot because I like playing in front of a lot people. The highest I've ever played in front of is probably 5,000 in the state championship last year."
