Feel a draft? UT's Pro Day doesn't
The three NFL teams present, the Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons, watched as six former Vols worked out in the Neyland Thompson Sports Center.
Tennessee outgoing linebacker Kevin Burnett, widely projected as an early second-round pick, elected not to work out for UT's second Pro Day because of lingering effects from a cold. Running back Cedric Houston also phoned in sick.
"I'm not sure why more guys didn't work out,'' said UT assistant athletic director Condredge Holloway, who acts as the Vols NFL intermediary. "They need to look at this as a job interview.''
Offensive tackle Michael Munoz had the most noteworthy performance of the day, doing a 31 1/2-inch vertical jump and running the three-cone drill in 7.66 seconds.
Munoz, who suffered through knee and shoulder injuries during his career at UT, checked out well medically at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis in March. Munoz is expected to be a late third round pick.
The others who auditioned Wednesday - Corey Larkins, C.J. Leak, Derrick Tinsley and Karlton Neal - showed little or no improvement from their performances at the March 16 Pro Day.
Running back Jabari Davis, who strained a hamstring at the last Pro Day workout, clocked in with a 4.73-second 40-yard dash.
Burnett has an individual workout scheduled at UT on April 8.
