"Come the seventh round, I didn't want to get picked,'' Brown said. "If you don't get picked, you can pick your team, so it was easier for me not to get drafted.''
And that's exactly what Brown did, choosing the Buffalo Bills from among more than 10 teams that called him late into the night on April 24.
"It was ridiculous come the fifth and sixth round, lots of teams started calling me,'' Brown said. "They told me they'd pick me up if I didn't get drafted.''
Munoz - an All-America offensive lineman at UT - had an opportunity to sign a free agent deal with the Cincinnati Bengals, but opted to walk away from the game, saying he'd never found his identity in football.
Brown, meanwhile, is happier than ever with the start he has gotten off to in Buffalo.
"As soon as I went up there (for mini-camp) I was running with the ones and the twos,'' Brown said. "My second play, J.P. Losman his me with a 60-yard bomb for a touchdown. They throw you into the fire there.''
Brown was mostly used as a slot receiver at Tennessee who specialized in catching the ball in traffic or in short-yardage and third-down situations.
"It's been totally different than Tennessee,'' Brown said. "They kept sending me deep.''
Brown's decision to go to Buffalo as a priority free agent has reunited him with former UT teammates Rashad Baker, Jabari Greer and Constantin Ritzmann, all of whom made the club in 2004 as free agents. Former UT offensive lineman Trey Teague also plays for the Bills.
"It's been great,'' Brown said. "Speed-wise, it's exactly the same as the SEC, it's just more complex with the coverages. I couldn't believe it was that simple.''
Brown said the complexity of the Vols' offense has helped him make a quick adjustment.
"Tennessee's offense is a lot like Buffalo's,'' he said. "Some of the plays are the exact same, just a different name. The transition for me is in the terminology.''
Brown said the Bills have typically kept five receivers on their active roster - one more than most NFL teams - and nine receivers in all counting the practice squad.
Buffalo has 11 receivers vying for those spots. The Bills drafted Roscoe Parrish out of Miami and also signed Oklahoma's Will Peoples.
Brown reports back to Buffalo on May 15.
Leak Considers Options: Former UT player C.J. Leak said he's not sure when or where he'll play in the NFL, but he's looking at every possibility.
"I'm looking at multiple positions,'' Leak said. "I've got some workouts set up. I'll go where I can.''
Leak said teams have evaluated him as a quarterback, a safety and an H-Back.
"As long as I have options, and people keep looking at me, I'll keep trying,'' Leak said. "I enjoy football.''
