Luke to be hired
Luke coached tight ends and was Ole Miss recruiting coordinator during David Cutcliffes tenure and is still on the Rebels staff. Cutcliffe was announced as UTs offensive coordinator Monday. Luke played center at Ole Miss from 1995-98 and started 33 games.
Luke fills one of the two positions on the staff vacated by the dismissal of offensive line coach Jimmy Ray Stephens and wide receiver coach Pat Washington.
UTs final hire is still undecided.
UT head coach Phillip Fulmer is likely to divvy up special teams responsibilities among his coaching staff instead of hiring a special teams coordinator, another source said. Defensive ends coach Steve Caldwell had previously overseen the kicking game.
