Houston led Ballard High School to the 1988 boys state championship and was named Mr. Basketball a year later. Ballard also reached the state final in 1987, and Houston averaged 24 points in his two title game appearances.
He played for his father, Wade (a 1999 Hall of Fame honoree), at UT, emerging as the schools all-time leading scorer. A first-round NBA draft pick, Houston spent 11 years in the NBA with Detroit and New York. He twice made the All-Star team and averaged 17.3 points a game for his career.
The other inductees included former Kentucky basketball player Pat Riley, who has won five NBA championships as a coach; Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich; former major league baseball player Doug Flynn; former Kentucky gymnast Jenny Hansen; former Western Kentucky womens basketball player Clemette Haskins; and Newport Central Catholic High School football coach Bob Schneider.
