Davis, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive end from West Monroe (La.) High School, said he expects Paige to commit to Florida State on ESPN on Aug. 19.
Davis said he will join Paige on ESPN but only to announce his top five schools: Tennessee, Florida, Ohio State, Florida State and LSU.
Paige, a 6-foot-3, 175-pound wide receiver from Sterlington (La.) High School, and Davis had planned to visit UT this weekend. Davis said that trip likely wont happen because of Paiges decision to attend Florida State.
Davis said he would still like to visit UT this weekend but probably wont because of transportation problems.
"I wanted to make the trip but Ahmad was my transportation," Davis said. "He didnt want to go."
Davis said he will talk to UT assistant coach Trooper Taylor about a possible way to travel to Knoxville.
Davis and Paige had seemed likely to attend the same school. Davis, who told the News Sentinel last month the chances were "close to 100 percent," seemed less confident the two would end up together.
"I kind of have my eyes open on this," Davis said. "If thats where he feels comfortable best wishes to him. Im just looking for the school thats going to be the perfect fit for me."
