C. J. Fleming, a cornerback from Highland Springs High School in Richmond, Va., has committed to play football at the University of Tennessee.

Fleming said he chose UT over Georgia.

"I have a good relationship with (UT secondary) coach Larry Slade," Fleming said. "I think Tennessee is the right school for me."

Fleming is UT’s 11th commitment for the 2007 recruiting class.

Fleming is 5-foot-11, 175 pounds and runs a 4.4-second in the 40-yard dash, according to Highland Springs coach Scott Burton. He already has two years starting experience at cornerback.

"Physically, he has all the tools you need," Burton said. "He’s got great speed and he’s physical. He’s kind of a throwback type of player. He likes to get in your face.

"He’s probably the hungriest kid I’ve ever coached. I’m very proud of him. He’s very business-like and very coachable. He doesn’t feel like he has arrived."

Burton said Fleming has played exclusively at cornerback. But he’s also the team’s best punt and kick blocker.

Fleming’s unofficial visits also have included Georgia, West Virginia and North Carolina State, according to Burton. He also considered Florida, but didn’t visit there, Burton said.

"He had offers from 15 SEC and ACC schools," Burton said.

Now that Fleming has committed to UT, Burton said he wouldn’t take any more visits.

"He’s done," Burton said.
