It's unanimous! UT's Sears named All-SEC

Offensive tackle among seven Vols on first team

Tennessee offensive tackle Arron Sears led seven Vols named to the Associated Press All-SEC team Monday.

Sears, a 6-foot-4, 320-pound senior from Russellville, Ala., joined defensive tackle Turk McBride, receiver Robert Meachem, punter Britton Colquitt and kicker James Wilhoit as first-team selections.

Sears was a unanimous selection, the only one besides Arkansas running back Darren McFadden, who was named offensive player of the year.

Safety Jonathan Hefney and cornerback Jonathan Wade were named to the second team.

Tennessee's five first-team selections was second only to SEC West champion Arkansas' six.

No other team had more than three players selected, while SEC champion Florida only had two players selected to the first team, defensive backs Reggie Nelson and Ryan Smith.

Arkansas had the most players on either the first or second team with nine, followed by Tennessee's seven. Georgia, Auburn and LSU each had six players each, followed by Florida with four and Mississippi State and Kentucky with three apiece.

Ole Miss had two players selected, while Alabama, South Carolina and Vanderbilt each had one player chosen.

Coker, McNeil Honored: Center Josh McNeil and tailback LaMarcus Coker were named to the Sporting News' SEC All-Freshman team.

McNeil, a redshirt freshman, made his first start against Marshall in UT's fourth game of the season.

Coker was the SEC's leading freshman rusher and seventh overall among SEC backs with an average of 66 yards in 10 games.
