"They saw how aggressive I was," the 6-foot, 205-pound cornerback from Calhoun, S.C., said of how his junior college career improved his recruiting stature. "They were surprised by my run support and bump-and-run."
If he proves ready, Willingham could play a key role in UT's defensive backfield immediately. The Vols likely have to replace their top three cornerbacks from 2006: seniors Jonathan Wade and Antwan Stewart and junior Inky Johnson, who suffered what is thought to be a career-ending injury last season.
