Mississippi State gets QB with UT ties
But where's home for St. Thomas Aquinas High School quarterback Wesley Carroll, who has committed to Mississippi State?
Well, take this: The 2007 and 2008 MSUTennessee games will be days of great divide within the Carroll household.
Carroll's father, uncle and a handful of cousins graduated from the University of Tennessee.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Carroll grew up wearing all that bright orange, too, and followed SEC football no matter where he lived. Once Mississippi State came with an offer to actually play in the league, Carroll jumped.
"To pass up that opportunity would just be insane to me," Carroll said told The Clarion Ledger. "And the fact that I can play hopefully early on, that means a lot. I don't want to go to college, sit for three or four years and maybe play for one. That to me just means a lot."
His commitment came after a visit on Dec. 14 by quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator Woody McCorvey, a former UT assistant.
