Reveiz was a Class 5A Mr. Football finalist at Farragut, wrestled with the decision to accept a scholarship at a smaller school or walk on at Division I.
Reveiz decided to become a preferred walk-on at the University of Tennessee and follow family tradition.
His father, Fuad Reveiz, kicked at UT from 1981-84 before going on to an 11-year NFL career with the Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings. His uncle, Carlos Reveiz, was UT's kicker from 1984-85.
The 5-10, 225-pound linebacker met with Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer on Monday to finalize his plans to walk-on.
"He told me that he really felt like I could play there," Reveiz said. "I told him that's my No. 1 choice. I guess I'll have to prove myself. As long as I get the opportunity, that's what I'll be happy with."
Reveiz, who made 116 regular-season tackles and helped guide the Admirals to the Class 5A state quarterfinals, said North Carolina State and Mississippi State both told him they might have a scholarship available after signing day.
Neither school wound up offering Reveiz.
Still, he's confident he can contribute in the SEC.
"I've played against the best," said Reveiz, who plans to enroll at UT this summer. "I know what it takes to play with their big guys. I know it's somewhere I can play and succeed."
