Cal won't let UT move home opener
"The game is contract written for a specific date," UT athletic director Mike Hamilton told WVLT on Tuesday.
Hamilton says UT was asked by ESPN, which holds broadcast rights to the game on Sept. 2, to move the contest to prime time the next day.
Hamilton said he was intrigued by the option to move the game, but says Cal was not. UT would need the Golden Bears' approval to make the switch. Cal opens its home schedule the following Saturday against Minnesota, and according to Hamilton, the school was not excited about the prospect of a short week.
