The offensive lineman from Morgan Park High School in Chicago decided to commit to UT after a home visit by UT coaches last Tuesday. He made the announcement on Saturday.
The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Johnson, who visited UT on Jan. 13, was also considering Illinois. He took his only other official visit to Illinois last weekend.
Johnson is an important pickup for UT because he was the last offensive lineman on the board after Antonio Logan-El from Forestville, Md., committed to Penn State last Tuesday.
Johnson is UT's 24th commitment for the 2006 class. National Signing Day is Wednesday.
