The 6-foot-4, 305-pound offensive lineman from Morgan Park High School in Chicago has not been cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
"I haven't heard anything yet," said Johnson, who was one of UT's highest rated prospects of the 2006 class. "I'm just anxious to get down there."
The problem is timing. Johnson didn't graduate from high school until June 10 with the rest of his classmates. Once he received his transcript, he only had two weeks to be cleared by the NCAA.
Johnson is fully expected to be a full qualifier, according to a source within UT's program. However, if UT does not hear from the clearinghouse by Tuesday, then Johnson will miss the second session of summer school and enroll this fall. Classes begin Monday.
