Tabb, Crews start summer school today
NCAA hasn't cleared Smith to join Vols
Point guard Ramar Smith, however, wasn't approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse as of Friday. Smith, who re-took a standardized test in June, has yet to solidify his qualification status.
Smith is a 6-foot-2, 197-pounder from Detroit's Martin Luther King High who originally committed to Connecticut. His status is important because the Vols are replacing departed senior C.J. Watson.
Tabb, who attended prep school in Cincinnati, can also play point guard, as can Marques Johnson, who has been in school since the start of the first term of summer school.
Power forward Wayne Chism also enrolled the first term of summer school without event. Crews, a small forward, has had no issues with his academic qualifications.
Senior center Major Wingate remains indefinitely suspended from UT's workouts. Wingate is, however, expected to rejoin the team before the season starts.
UT coach Bruce Pearl said last week he would address the status of his players' eligibility upon the start of the second term of summer school this week.
Pearl last said he expected Tony Passley, a redshirt sophomore who was suspended in the spring, to rejoin the team this summer.
