Ainge returns to workouts after minor car accident
Johnson cleared for summer session
The junior quarterback was sidelined because of an upper-back injury, according to his father, Doug Ainge. The preexisting injury may have been aggravated by a minor traffic accident, which occurred last week.
"It was exactly the same area," Doug Ainge said. "He had a little fender bender but that's all it was."
Doug Ainge said the reports from his son have been positive concerning his summer workouts. Erik Ainge, who is close to 220 pounds, told his father he was 8-for-12 passing during Tuesday's workouts. The highlight of the day was a deep pass to senior receiver Jayson Swain.
"He can't wait until August," Doug Ainge said. "He's working out hard."
Reporting: Offensive lineman Ramon Johnson is set to report for the second session of UT's summer school, which began Monday.
The 6-foot-4, 305-pound offensive lineman from Morgan Park High School in Chicago has been approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse, according to a source within the program.
Defensive lineman/linebacker Gerald Williams is expected to report in August in time for fall camp. The 6-4, 225-pounder from Boyd Anderson High in Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., had hoped to enroll for the second session of summer school but is still waiting to be cleared academically.
