Cooter's hearing moved to Aug. 17
Cooter, who turned 22 on July 3, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at around 3:25 a.m. June 3 after UT police officer Joey A. Knight spotted Cooter's black SUV running a red light and driving on the wrong side of the road on 16th street.
Knight's report said Cooter had a blood-alcohol level of 0.19 percent, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.
The senior from Fayetteville was suspended from the team indefinitely by coach Phillip Fulmer and will not be eligible for Tennessee's season-opener against California.
Cooter did not attempt a pass in the 2005 season and made only late appearances in one game each in 2003 and 2004.
He earned his bachelor's degree this spring and will enroll as a graduate student this fall.
