Donald: UT still leads, considering Notre Dame

Chris Donald said Tennessee still leads for his services after having a couple of weeks to mull over a scholarship offer from Notre Dame. However, the 6-2, 220-pound linebacker from Huntingdon High said he is considering the Fighting Irish.

"They have a great football team and great academics as well," Donald said. "They want me to come in there and check out the school, so that's what I'm going to do."

Donald said he will visit South Bend after he visits Knoxville on June 16 for UT's summer camp. Donald is taking the ACT this weekend.

The entrance of the Fighting Irish in the battle could rule out Ole Miss. Donald said he is still considering the Rebels but UT and Notre Dame are clear-cut leaders. Donald said he will visit Oxford, Miss. next week.

Donald said he plans to announce a decision this summer.

He is considered one of the top two prospects in Tennessee, along with athlete Golden Tate from Pope John Paul II in Hendersonville. Notre Dame is also recruiting Tate but has yet to offer him a scholarship.
