UT leads nation in basketball attendance increase

Tennessee's men led the nation in basketball attendance increase in 2005-06, according to NCAA statistics released this week.

The Vols increased by an average of 5,729 per game, edging runner-up Memphis at 5,280. Creighton was a distant third at 2,692.

Tennessee averaged 17,954 per game, up from 12,225 in 2004-05. Overall, the Vols' average ranked fifth, behind Kentucky, Syracuse, North Carolina and Louisville.

The SEC ranked third in attendance with an average of 11,082 per game. The Big Ten averaged 12,581, followed by the Atlantic Coast Conference at 11,273.

Watson In Orlando: C.J. Watson of Tennessee is one of 64 players invited to the NBA pre-draft camp in Orlando this week. Watson is one of 13 point guards at the camp. He recently worked out for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The only other SEC players in camp are Tarance Kinsey and Renaldo Balkman of South Carolina.
