Running back Daryl Vereen from North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville, N.C., became UTs sixth commitment for the signing class of 2007. The 5-foot-11, 189-pound Vereen had received strong interest from South Carolina and North Carolina State.
He rushed for more than 1,200 yards and 15 touchdowns his junior season despite missing three games due to a broken hand.
Vereen joins athlete Anthony Anderson from Austin-East, receiver Todd Campbell from Franklin, running back Kevin Cooper from Baylor School in Chattanooga, wide receiver/defensive back Tyler Maples from Maryville and offensive lineman Darris Sawtelle from Brother Rice in Birmingham, Mich.
