McFadden: 'Feeling all right'

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas sophomore tailback Darren McFadden said his sore ankle, shin and toe are feeling good and he expects to be ready to start against Tennessee on Saturday night.

McFadden, who has rushed for an SEC-best 1,038 yards and 10 touchdowns, was injured when he was tackled from behind late in last Saturday's game at South Carolina.

"I'm feeling all right," McFadden said. "I'm pretty good."

McFadden began undergoing treatment with trainer Dean Weber at about 4 a.m. Sunday after the team returned from South Carolina.

"I appreciate him taking the time out of his night to do that," McFadden said. "I had slept on the plane. So I had a (few) hours of sleep in.

"I wanted to watch some TV for awhile, so I might as well do something useful."

McFadden said he watched ESPN's replay of the Arkansas-South Carolina game while getting treatment Sunday morning. Presumably McFadden enjoyed the replay considering he rushed for a career-high 219 yards against the Gamecocks.

Nutt Not Sour On QB: Arkansas coach Houston Nutt said he expects Mitch Mustain to become a great quarterback for the Razorbacks.

That opinion hasn't changed, Nutt said, because he is going with sophomore Casey Dick as the starting quarterback Saturday night instead of Mustain.

But Nutt, who played quarterback at Arkansas and Oklahoma State and like Mustain was a high school star in Arkansas, said he understands Mustain's disappointment.

"Like all quarterbacks, there's always disappointment when you're not the guy, especially when you're in the habit of being the guy," Nutt said of Mustain's reaction to being replaced after eight starts with the Razorbacks.

"That's always hard. But he's handled it with class and I just know he's going to work harder."

Nutt noted that Mustain already has accomplished more this season than most true freshman quarterbacks. His message to Mustain is to stay focused and keep practicing hard.

"You're only a play away," Nutt said. "You don't know when your number is going to be called. It could be the very next play, could be after one series, one quarter, you don't know.

"You've done a great job, nothing to be ashamed of, a lot to be proud of.

"Just keep going, hang in there and be ready, be ready, be ready."

SEC Honor For Brown: Arkansas senior defensive end Anthony Brown, who blocked a punt for a safety against South Carolina, was named the SEC special teams player of the week.

He is the eighth Razorback who has won some type of SEC weekly award this season.
