Ron Brooks doesn't know much about Tennessee football, but he will after this weekend.

Brooks, a wide receiver from MacArthur High School in Irving, Texas, will take an official visit to Arkansas this weekend. The Razorbacks play host to UT at 7 tonight.

The 6-foot, 176-pound Brooks said he hasn't been able to watch UT play on television this season.

"I know they throw the ball," he said. "They throw the ball, but they run when they have to."

Brooks is considering UT, Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Texas A&M and Oklahoma. He said he plans to visit Florida and LSU, and the final two trips will most likely be to UT and Texas A&M.

Brooks said UT receivers coach Trooper Taylor has been trying to convince him to make his way to Knoxville.

"He just tells me that he wants me to come up there and see the university because he knows I'll like it and how well I'll fit into the offensive scheme and things," Brooks said.

He said he's looking for a team with an offense that can run and throw the football effectively.

"I don't want to go to a school where they're just going to run the ball and all I do is run block," he said. "I really want to get a chance to showcase my talents. A passing school would be ideal for that."

Brooks said he will also pay attention to each school's quarterback situation to see who might be throwing him the football in college.

"I don't want to go anywhere where we have great receivers but the quarterback wouldn't be able to make something happen if something were to fall through," he said.

Brooks' biggest tie to Arkansas could be his high school teammate Bret Harris. The safety is also considering the Razorbacks, along with Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Kansas State and Missouri.

Brooks said the chance to play with Harris is a draw to Arkansas, but it won't be a determining factor for either player.

"If we get the opportunity to go to school together," Brooks said, "hey, that's great. But if we don't, we're not going to let that hold us back from where we really want to go."

Brooks said he and Harris, who also will visit Arkansas this weekend, are helping each other with choosing the right school.

"We're going through the same process," he said. "We just talk about where we're trying to go and trying to decide whether or not it's good for each other."
