Shula says preparation for UT best this season for Tide

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama coach Mike Shula called the week of preparation for Saturday's game at No. 7 Tennessee his team's best this season.

"I don't know what that means," Shula said Thursday. "I wish I did. I think it's a really good sign that the guys are into it, they know what this game means, they know the team we're going to be playing, what it's going to take. Now we've just got to transfer it from the practice field to the game."

The team worked earlier than normal Thursday - starting at 12:30 p.m. - with fall break under way, which allowed the players to get more relaxation time in the afternoon and evening. The Tide went outside all the way through practice, working through heavy rain at times.

Linebacker Juwan Simpson has drawn his second assignment in a row as a game captain against the Vols. Fullback Le'Ron McClain will represent the offense and Rashad Johnson will captain special teams.
